Katy Perry has spoken openly about the difficult period she experienced after her split from actor Orlando Bloom, confessing that the months following the end of their relationship were filled with tears, loneliness and difficult emotional moments. But, according to the singer, it was during this period that her life took an unexpected turn. More than a year after the end of their nine-year relationship, Perry has told People magazine about how she experienced the breakup and how returning to the stage through her “Lifetimes” tour helped her find herself again.
"It was probably the hardest time," the 41-year-old confessed. "My friends were all at home. I was crying and I felt so far away. But then my angels started working. They were really there for me." Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom, 49, have a 6-year-old daughter, Daisy, together. The couple, who had been dating for years and were engaged, confirmed their split after a relationship that lasted about nine years.
Perry admitted that, before starting a new chapter in her life, she needed to process the end of her relationship with Bloom. "I wouldn't stay in something for nine years if there weren't really important things to learn. Every relationship is a teacher, right? I had to let it go so I could move on," the singer said.
She also revealed that she had long dreamed of a great, almost mythical love, and that she had discussed this desire with her therapist. "I've always wanted this epic, legendary love. Everything in my life is epic, but this was the missing piece of the puzzle. And then it appeared," Perry said.
The singer's love life took a turn while she was on tour. Perry returned to the stage with the "Lifetimes Tour" and, just weeks after her split from Orlando Bloom was made public, she met former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Their relationship was initially kept out of the public eye, but the pair later confirmed their relationship.
Speaking about that period, Perry said her tour gave her a new perspective on life. "I learned how to get back to my purpose. And I got the greatest gift from that tour: I met the love of my life," she declared.
Perry has previously spoken about her new relationship, explaining that Trudeau gives her a sense of stability.
"I'm a little bit like a rainbow balloon. I fly so high and touch the universe, and sometimes I need to stay grounded," she said. "Finally, having that anchor makes me feel whole." Despite the end of their relationship, Perry and Bloom have remained connected through their daughter, Daisy.
After the breakup, Orlando Bloom spoke positively about his relationship with his ex-partner and their role as parents. "I'm amazing. I'm so grateful. We have the most beautiful daughter. We're fine. We're going to be fine. Nothing but love," the actor said. Meanwhile, Bloom has also continued his personal life. According to reports, he is in a relationship with model Louisa Laemmel. Katy Perry, on the other hand, seems to have left the chapter of her relationship with Orlando Bloom behind and, as she herself says, has found what she had been looking for for a long time: a love that makes her feel complete and grounded.
