Former Socialist Party MP and security expert, Denis Deliu, invited to the show "Minuta e perë" with journalist Ola Bruko on News24, has commented on developments regarding the accusations of arms trafficking and the mention of the state-owned company KAYO in the wiretaps.
Deliu stressed that the justice bodies must carry out their duty with transparency, by fully investigating and clarifying these wiretaps, while emphasizing that he does not wish to allude further except to maintain a clear public stance.
"Justice really needs to do its job, clarify and investigate these wiretaps. I can't hint at anything more," he said.
Despite the shadows of doubt raised, Deliu came out in defense of the legal framework and the strategic idea behind the creation of the military enterprise.
According to him, the law on the formation of the company was necessary for Albania, which should have had the institutional opportunity to possess a state-owned enterprise for the production and trade of armaments.
In his comment, he also brought to attention the geopolitical context, stating that the war in Ukraine restored the importance of military production at the global level. He recalled that he has consistently been a strong voice for Albania to build and have its own genuine capacities for the production and trade of armaments.
"I think the KAYO law was a very good law when it was made and we needed as a state to have the opportunity for a state-owned company to produce and trade weapons. The war in Ukraine brought the production of weapons into the spotlight. I have been a strong voice for Albania to have capacities for the production and trade of weapons," he said.
