Keanu Reeves turned 62 yesterday, marking more than four decades on stage and screen, according to "The Guardian".

The Canadian actor, born on September 2, 1964 in Beirut, Lebanon, has become one of the most recognizable figures in world cinema, especially thanks to his roles in "The Matrix" and "John Wick."

From the beginnings to international fame

Reeves began acting at a young age and during the 1980s appeared in television productions, commercials, and films.

He took his first important steps in cinematography in films such as "River's Edge", "Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure" and "My Own Private Idaho".

In 1994, his role in "Speed," alongside Sandra Bullock, turned him into an international action movie star.

During this period, he also won significant accolades from MTV and other industry awards.

"The Matrix" - the role that changed his career

The biggest moment of Reeves' career came in 1999, when he played Neo in "The Matrix."

The film became a global phenomenon and won four Oscars, while Reeves received the MTV Movie Award for Best Performance, along with Laurence Fishburne.

The film also won the Saturn Award for Best Science Fiction Film.

The role of Neo permanently placed Reeves among the biggest stars of action and science fiction cinema.

"John Wick" - the spectacular comeback

In 2014, Reeves took on the role of professional assassin John Wick.

The film gave another twist to his career and became one of the most successful action franchises of recent years.

The series continued with “John Wick: Chapter 2, Chapter 3 – Parabellum and Chapter 4”.

For his performance, Reeves has received numerous nominations, including nominations for the Saturn Award and the People's Choice Award.

In 2024, he won the Jupiter Award for Best International Actor.

Actor, musician and author

Beyond cinema, Reeves has also had a career in music.

He is the co-founder and bassist of the alternative rock band "Dogstar," and continued to pursue music alongside acting.

He has also been involved in literary projects.

Reeves co-created the graphic novel series BRZRKR, and later collaborated with writer China Miéville on the novel "The Book of Elsewhere."

A personal life away from the spotlight

Despite his immense fame, Reeves has been known for his relatively private and simple lifestyle.

One of the most painful periods of his life is related to his relationship with Jennifer Syme.

The couple lost their daughter, who was stillborn, in 1999.

Two years later, in 2001, Syme died in a car accident in Los Angeles.

The event deeply affected the actor and for a period he withdrew from public life.

In recent years, Reeves's romantic life has been linked to American artist Alexandra Grant.

The pair had collaborated for years on artistic and publishing projects, and their relationship became public in 2019.

They have continued to appear together at public events, while maintaining a relatively low profile.

A career that continues

From his roles as Ted Logan, Jack Traven, and Neo to John Wick, Reeves has built a career that includes some of the most popular films of recent decades.

At 62, Keanu Reeves remains one of the actors who has managed to combine commercial success, a long career and a relatively modest profile off-screen, while maintaining a strong connection with audiences around the world.
