The 9-year school "Kolë Jakova" in Tirana has been transformed into a modern and dignified space for the education of around 500 students of unit 11. The acting Mayor of Tirana, Anuela Ristani, inspected the new premises and stated that everything is ready to welcome the young people of this unit.
"We are here at the "Kolë Jakova" school, at Bregu i Lumit in unit No. 11, in a semi-informal area, with new residents but also with old residents. A school that serves about 500 students and was built many years ago and had never been reconstructed. The reconstruction has been complete, not only with the existing spaces, but with additional spaces for sports and support facilities. There have also been interventions for sports facilities, toilets, locker rooms and any other facilities, including the cooling and heating system", emphasized Ristani.
Further, the acting mayor of Tirana Municipality stated that the “Kolë Jakova” school is equipped with all the necessary conditions, while underlining that its premises will be able to be used by the community after the end of the lesson. “The space for children here is not only ample in terms of didactic, but also in terms of recreation. After the lesson, the school is also at the service of the community. The school is now fully completed in terms of infrastructure with furniture so that we are able to move the children and continue the learning process not only normally, but even more improved with the same standards both in the center and on the outskirts of Tirana”, said Ristani.
Meanwhile, the administrator of unit 11, Ilirjan Engjëlli, praised the investment, emphasizing that this is the only school in this residential block populated with about 6000 residents.
The intervention in the 9-year school "Kolë Jakova", included the complete reconstruction of the building with a central heating system, the rehabilitation of the gym with new locker rooms for students and the arrangement and rehabilitation of the entire surrounding area of the building. It also made it possible to create computer laboratories and the school library as well as other auxiliary spaces.
