LDK leader Lumir Abdixhiku and LVV leader Albin Kurti met on Wednesday afternoon to discuss political developments following the agreement on the candidate for president of Kosovo.

After the meeting, Abdixhiku spoke briefly to the media, while earlier, through a public reaction, he criticized the six LDK MPs who declared that they would not vote for Bekim Sejdiu for president.

Abdixhiku has rejected the MPs' argument that voting for Sejdiu would prolong the life of Albin Kurti's government. According to him, LDK had decided to remain in opposition and had not had any agreement for co-government with LVV.

"Yesterday, no governing agreement with VV was rejected, because such an agreement did not exist. LDK had decided to remain in opposition. All our MPs had agreed with this position," Abdixhiku wrote.

According to the LDK leader, what was rejected was the presidential candidacy proposed by the LDK and, as a result, the country is heading towards new elections.

"Yesterday, the solution for the president of Kosovo was rejected. The vote for the candidate proposed by the LDK was rejected and, with this rejection, the fate of the country was also determined, new elections," he declared.

At the center of the clash are six LDK MPs – Avdullah Hoti, Hykmete Bajrami, Kujtim Shala, Janina Ymeri, Armend Zemaj and Arben Gashi – who have opposed Bekim Sejdiu's candidacy.

This group of MPs has also held critical positions towards Abdixhiku's leadership of the party and has already expressed positions similar to those of the PDK and the Alliance regarding the election of the president and the formation of the next government.

Meanwhile, with 74 possible votes in favor of Bekim Sejdiu, the election of the president would not be enough to avoid new early elections, as the formation of new institutions requires a broader political solution.

Abdixhiku also reminded the "rebel" MPs of the developments of 2020, when the LDK was involved in the creation of the Hoti Government after the overthrow of the government led by Albin Kurti.
