Kosovo is entering a new electoral cycle, which is expected to culminate on June 7, 2026. After the failure to elect a president within the constitutional deadlines, Vjosa Osmani has announced a "grand alliance" with the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK).
Analyst Dritëro Arifi, in a live broadcast on "News24 Weekend" with Megi Latif, commented on the situation while warning that "secrets" are expected to be revealed in the campaign, considering the fact that former president Vjosa Osmani and Albin Kurti have collaborated for a long time and know many things about each other.
"Kurti recently said that the president is just a notary in the government, so the prime minister has all the exclusive duties and the government is the one who decides everything since we are a parliamentary republic. The biggest loser in the implementation of projects
"Friction is expected from the start of the campaign because Osmani and Kurti know everything about each other. They know the strengths and weaknesses and the secrets and promises they have given to the Westerners. Things will come out that may even surprise us, for me not for the better. I think it has to do with political moves that should have been made but were not made. Meanwhile, if Kurti does not manage to get enough MPs in December, new elections may be held," he said.
