The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, has congratulated the United States of America on the occasion of the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, appreciating the historic impact of the July 4 Declaration not only for the American nation, but also for the Albanian people.
In his message, Kurti recalls that on July 4, 1776, the Declaration of Independence was signed, the document that marked the birth of the USA and that established the universal principles of equality, freedom, and inalienable human rights at the foundation of the American state.
The head of the Kosovo government emphasizes that these values have also inspired the history of Albanians, recalling Fan Noli's meeting with American President Woodrow Wilson on July 4, 1918. According to him, Wilson's support and the principles known as "Wilson's 14 Points" contributed to the preservation of the Albanian state after World War I.
Kurti also highlights the crucial role of the US in supporting Kosovo's right to self-determination and independence. He singles out former US President George W. Bush's statement in Tirana on June 10, 2007, when he said that "Kosovo is independent," describing it as one of the most important moments in the modern history of Kosovo's statehood.
According to Kurti, within nearly a century, Albanians received decisive support from the United States twice: first for the defense of the Albanian state after World War I and then for the independence of Kosovo.
At the end of the message, the Prime Minister of Kosovo expresses his best wishes to the American nation, emphasizing that guaranteeing inalienable rights for all people remains a civilizing duty for all humanity.
