In the Committee on Legal Affairs, Deputy Minister of Health Mira Rakacolli announced the innovations of the draft law 'On Hospital Service in the Republic of Albania'.

In her speech, MP Greta Bardeli said that the draft law presented by the Ministry of Health is not in line with standards, referring to the district hospitals.

Bardeli: The draft law that the Ministry has presented is not in accordance with the standards referring to the district hospitals. The Shkodra Central Hospital does not appear on the list of accredited hospitals. Could this lack of accreditation be due to the fact that many services are being performed by retired doctors? Could it also be related to the situation of the rooms that are of low standards, where patients after coming out of surgery are accommodated in rooms that do not have a ventilation system. In today's temperatures above 35 degrees, being placed in those rooms is intolerable. Many medications are out of accreditation due to mold and humidity. Many doctors leave the Shkodra hospital for a higher salary in Tirana or Germany. How will you act so that what you have presented on paper will match the reality that our hospitals have today. Will anyone be held responsible?

Rakacolli: The accreditation itself is a process that the Shkodra hospital has started just like other hospitals. So it is a concept that the Ministry of Health has paid attention to since its first mandate. So the Shkodra Hospital in 2013 was miserable, with a kitchen, laundry, and scandalous operating room, despite the high level that the surgeons offer. I would say that now the rooms have been built with modern conditions, so the accreditation process is progressing and developing. Shkodra is even one of the regions that refers fewer patients to the Tirana hospital due to the fact that it has all the services.
