The Democratic Party MP for the Lezha region, Gjin Gjoni, has reacted after the severe floods that have once again affected the areas of Lezha and Kurbin, by publishing images and direct testimonies of the affected residents.

John says it is painful to see families losing everything in a matter of hours, not because of the unbearable rainfall, but as a result of greed, corruption and mismanagement of power. According to him, the situation is repeated every time there is rainfall, while interventions advertised as "anti-flood" turn out to be nothing more than propaganda.

"Billions of lek have been spent and interventions have been trumpeted that in reality do not exist. The images from the ground speak for themselves," the Democrat MP emphasizes.

From Zadrima, the Mati coast in Lezha to Gjorm and the Adriatic of Kurbin, residents feel abandoned, without help and support from local and central government. In their testimonies, citizens demand that the justice bodies act and that those responsible be held legally accountable.

MP Gjoni underlines that it is unacceptable that this situation has continued for years without any solution and without anyone being held accountable. He guarantees that he will follow the issue to the end, demanding a realistic assessment of the damages and full compensation for the affected residents.

Full reaction to MP Gjin Gjoni:

It is painful to see families who have lost their hard work in a matter of hours – not because the rainfall was unbearable, but because of the greed and corruption of power.

Lezha and Kurbini are once again facing a very difficult situation in a few weeks, which is repeated every time there is rain, causing great damage to the residents. Billions of lek have been spent and so-called anti-flood interventions have been trumpeted, but the reality on the ground speaks for itself.

From Zadrima, the Mati coast in Lezha to Gjorm and the Adriatic of Kurbin, the residents are abandoned, without any help and support from the local and central government. As the residents themselves say, it is time for the justice systems to act and those responsible to be brought to justice. It is unacceptable that this situation continues and no one is held accountable.

For my part, as a deputy of the Lezha district, I will insist that the damages be assessed realistically and the residents be fully compensated.
