A serious event has shocked public opinion in the US, after three young women were arrested in the state of Texas, accused of murdering a 32-year-old mother of five children.
The victim, Caroline “Caro” Peña, was fatally stabbed in broad daylight on a street in the city of Del Rio, near the Mexican border. Sisters Kitty Mia Diaz, 21, Amaya “Cookie” Diaz, 19, and their friend, Kiandra Renee Faz, 21, have been arrested in connection with the incident. All three face murder charges.
According to American media, the motive for the crime still remains unclear and is part of the investigations being conducted by authorities.
The footage released after the arrest has attracted great attention, as one of the suspects appears smiling, while the other gestures and speaks in front of the cameras while being escorted by the police.
According to the testimony of a friend of the victim, the 32-year-old attempted to defend herself during the attack, while allegedly being surrounded by the three suspects. Authorities have not yet officially confirmed the full dynamics of the incident.
The three arrested are being held in custody, while the court has set a bail of 15 million dollars for each of them. Investigations to fully clarify the circumstances of the crime continue.
