In parallel with the establishment of a ceasefire between the two countries, Israel should begin withdrawing its troops from Lebanese territory.
French President Emmanuel Macron wrote about this on the social network "X" after his conversation with his Lebanese counterpart Joseph Aoun, Prime Minister Nawaf Salam and Speaker of the House of Representatives Nabih Berri.
"I reaffirmed to each of them France's commitment to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Lebanon. The establishment of a solid ceasefire regime, which must be respected by all parties, must allow for the withdrawal of Israeli troops from Lebanese territory and the launch of a parallel process of re-establishing the Lebanese Armed Forces to ensure the exercise of the State's exclusive right to use force," he wrote.
According to Macron, France is ready to provide concrete support for this process and to mobilize the international community in the coming weeks, together with the Lebanese government, to strengthen the Lebanese Armed Forces, as well as to meet the needs of the displaced.
