Madonna is teaming up with Netflix to bring her iconic life and career to the small screen. A biographical miniseries is in the early stages of development on the platform, according to US media.
In addition to the 66-year-old star, Sean Levy will also be at the helm of executive production through his company, 21 Laps, which has an exclusive deal with Netflix.
This new project is not related to the Madonna biopic, which was previously announced by Universal, in which three-time Emmy Award winner Julia Garner will play the lead role.
However, according to the report, the star remains the preferred choice for the ambitious series. It only depends on whether she will be available, as she has not yet signed an official deal. It is noted that the famous actress will star in a new mini-series on the platform, which will deal with the collapse of the FTX cryptocurrency exchange. This will be her third collaboration with Netflix, after her successful participation in “Inventing Anna” and “Ozark”.
The "Queen of Pop," as the best-selling singer worldwide, with 400 million records sold, Madonna holds an emblematic place in music history. Her induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2008 sealed her immense influence.
""I want to bring to the screen the incredible journey that life has offered me as an artist, as a musician, as a ballerina, as a human being, who tried to find her way in the world," the famous singer stated when the film was announced by Universal in 2020.
However, in early 2023, production was put on hold due to the "Celebration Tour" she held to celebrate 40 years of her legendary career.
