Madonna has made a spectacular return to the top of the American music charts, once again confirming her status as the "queen of pop".
Her new album, "Confessions II," released on July 3 by Warner Records, has debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, becoming the artist's 10th album to reach the top of this iconic chart.
This success comes after a seven-year wait from fans and returns Madonna to the spotlight of the music industry.
The singer, winner of seven Grammy Awards, shared on Instagram moments from the party organized in Queens, New York, on July 11, the night before the album's official debut at the top of Billboard.
The celebration was also attended by her collaborators, including producer Stuart Price, as well as artists Honey Dijon and Kaytranada. "Words cannot express how grateful and surprised I am by the incredible reception 'Confessions on a Dance Floor' has received," Madonna wrote, referring to the new album as a follow-up to her legendary 2005 project.
She thanked her fans and all the collaborators who helped make this project happen. "Especially my fans. The goodwill and positivity is unbelievable. I'm still pinching myself. I can't believe he's number 1 in the whole world," the singer said.
Madonna also said her goal was to bring energy and joy to people through music. "My dream was to make the world dance this summer. To bring joy to people. Dreams do come true," she wrote.
“Confessions II” is the artist’s 15th studio album and features 16 songs. Its release was accompanied by the short film “Confessions II – The Film,” which premiered in June at the Tribeca Film Festival. The film includes six songs from the album: “I Feel So Free,” “Good for the Soul,” “One Step Away,” “Bring Your Love,” “Danceteria,” and “Read My Lips.”
With this new success, Madonna sets another record in music history: she becomes the only artist to have had an album at number one in five different decades, from the 1980s to the 2020s.
At the same time, she equals the legendary band The Beatles as the artist with 10 albums that have reached number one in both the US and the UK.
