A major financial scandal has been uncovered in Ukraine, where authorities have dismantled a network of embezzlement of funds worth about 800 million hryvnia (15.3 million euros), intended for the purchase and production of drones for war.

According to investigations conducted by Gosfinmonitoring, the funds were channeled through a series of "front" companies and ended up being spent on luxury goods such as clothing, shoes, and perfumes, instead of being used for military needs.

Authorities have taken immediate measures, freezing the bank accounts of the people involved in this fraud scheme.

Special case: soldier arrested for stealing drones In a separate development, a Ukrainian soldier has been arrested after stealing drones worth 5.5 million hryvnia (about 96 thousand euros), which were destined for the war front.

According to local media, between June 2023 and September 2025, he used his access to a military unit's equipment to appropriate drones and then sell them in pawn shops. The events have raised serious concerns about the management of military funds and equipment in Ukraine, at a time when the country continues to face major challenges due to the war.
