MP Erisa Xhixho stated that the case against Freedom Party President Ilir Meta is a political process, accusing him of double standards in the treatment of justice.

In the lunch program, in News24, Xhixho said that Meta is being held in prison under conditions that contradict the law, while his communication with the media, MPs, MEPs and his family is being restricted, despite the decisions of the People's Advocate that describe these restrictions as illegal. She added that his arrest was carried out "in an unprecedented manner", calling it a kidnapping in the middle of the street without identification.

Xhixho raised concerns about the measure of pre-trial detention, emphasizing that a high percentage of detainees are still presumed innocent. According to her, Meta does not pose a danger and has always responded to justice whenever he has been called upon.

At the same time, Xhixho accused senior figures from the majority, including former Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku, of being at large despite the charges, claiming that they have exerted influence and intimidation on witnesses.

The MP announced that on April 8, Meta's case will be reviewed by the Constitutional Court, while warning that they will also address the Strasbourg Court.

"The truth will triumph," said Xixho, adding that this situation does not discourage them, but motivates them in what she described as a political and legal battle with the majority.

Erisa Xixho: For Ilir Meta, we are dealing with a political process, it is proven, today as we speak he is prevented from speaking to the media, with deputies, MEPs, from meeting his family even though there are 2 decisions of the Ombudsman that say that the stay was illegal, he was kidnapped in the middle of the street with masks and without identification. The fact that he is not allowed more than 4 meetings per month, the Ombudsman has said is illegal. To leave the deputy prime minister, all powerful, including the one accused by SPAK and she is free… On April 8 we are at the Constitutional Court for the measure and method of arrest, I hope that the members of the Constitutional Court rise to the occasion and act on the basis of facts and the law. Then there will be Strasbourg, Mr. Meta's truths will triumph in Strasbourg. With pre-trial detention we are in an alarming situation, 60% of the convicted today are in pre-trial detention, they are presumed innocent. Mr. Meta has responded to justice every time he has been summoned, he has given depositions, he does not pose any danger... you have the deputy prime minister who appoints half of the government, directors, etc., the most powerful person in that majority, has destroyed evidence and intimidated witnesses with facts and is kept at large, while Mr. Meta continues in political isolation. But it absolutely does not depress us, we are facing a regime and it is more motivated than ever in this battle and in the triumph of its truths.
