Former President Ilir Meta has addressed the Tirana Court, opposing the decision of the Tirana Prosecutor's Office not to initiate criminal proceedings against the employees of the 313 detention facility. Meta has appealed the decision of the prosecution body to close the verifications regarding his complaint, where he alleged abuse of office by employees of the prison institution, the manner of his treatment during his stay in detention and the restriction of communications.

After reviewing the report and conducting verifications, the Tirana Prosecution Office decided not to charge any person with criminal liability, concluding that there were insufficient elements for criminal prosecution.

Through the appeal to the court, the former head of state requests that the prosecutor's decision be overturned and that the court order the continuation of the investigations into the case denounced by him. The case will be reviewed by Judge Vjollca Sahiu, who will decide whether to leave the decision of the Tirana Prosecutor's Office in force or order further investigations to be carried out.
