The recent increase in oil prices has prompted the government of North Macedonia to monitor the situation in the market. Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski has spoken out on the issue, stating that citizens should remain calm and that the government will intervene if necessary.
Mickoski stated that, despite recent increases, North Macedonia continues to have among the lowest gasoline and diesel prices in the region.
"We are following the oil situation. We are still a country with the lowest prices in the region when it comes to gasoline and diesel. We will react as we have reacted so far. Citizens should be calm," said Mickoski.
According to him, fuel prices depend on international markets and stock exchanges, so they are not related to the performance of a particular businessman or politician.
"This is a stock market product and it is not something that depends on whether a businessman is better or worse, or a politician is better or worse. We all buy from the same place," the Macedonian prime minister added.
He assured that the government will continue to follow developments and will take measures if the price increase significantly affects citizens.
