Minister of Health and Social Welfare Evis Sala, invited to the International Congress of the Albanian Federation of Gynecologists and Obstetricians, emphasized that women's health remains a national priority, with a direct impact on the well-being of the family and the sustainable development of the country.
She underlined that improving the quality of health services must be accompanied by ensuring equal access for all women, addressing inequalities between urban and rural areas, as well as different social groups.
Minister Sala highlighted that health policies are oriented towards strengthening integrated care for mother and child, increasing access to quality services, standardizing clinical practices according to international guidelines, and sustainable investments in infrastructure and human resources.
Special attention, according to her, has been paid to antenatal care programs, screening for the most common pathologies, and strengthening neonatal services, as key elements for reducing maternal and neonatal morbidity and mortality.
Focusing on current challenges, the minister emphasized the need for a more advanced and integrated approach, through the use of new technologies, increasing professional capacities and developing specialized centers.
"Modern governance in healthcare requires evidence-based decision-making and close partnership with professionals, evaluating this congress as a concrete example where science and politics interact for development and sustainability," the minister emphasized.
In this context, she announced the launch of the PRISMA project, within the MATHERNA program, between the Albanian Government, the Government of Italy, the Lombardy Region, the Local Health Authority Fatebenefratelli Sacco (ASST) and the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation as an important example of inter-institutional cooperation between Albania and international partners, in order to improve health services.
