Three Kosovo citizens, who had been missing since Saturday evening, have been found dead in North Macedonia after the vehicle they were traveling in was discovered submerged in the Lepenc River.
The victims have been identified as Ejup Ternava, Cennet Ternava and Fatmire Shabani, all residents of Vushtrri. They had departed from Skopje Airport for Kosovo, but their families lost contact with them immediately after leaving the airport.
After the disappearance was reported, Macedonian authorities launched a search operation, while the family also appealed for citizens' help in locating them.
During the operation, the vehicle they were traveling in, a Mercedes GLC with German license plates, was found submerged in the Lepenc River.
According to Macedonian media, after pulling the vehicle from the river, authorities confirmed that the bodies of three people were inside.
The causes and circumstances of the accident remain unclear. The competent authorities in North Macedonia have launched investigations to determine how the vehicle ended up in the river and to fully unravel the incident.
