"The price that Iran has already paid is very heavy. The foundations of this terrorist regime in Iran have been cracked. It will never return to the state it was in before, and I tell you, it is doomed to fall," Netanyahu said.

At the same time, he issued a warning to Israel's opponents, stressing: "Let every enemy who plans to harm Israel know that his plans will fail. The price he will pay will be extremely heavy."

The statement came hours after reports that the Israeli prime minister had backed away from a plan to attack Hezbollah targets in Beirut, following the intervention of US President Donald Trump.
