The Gulf region is facing an increasingly urgent reality: limited access to clean water. The continued decline in available water resources is causing growing concern about the implications it could have for the region's future, even the possibility of new tensions or conflicts over something so critical.

An estimated 100 million Arabs are at risk of facing the consequences of a worsening water crisis, as available resources are steadily dwindling. Water scarcity is not only affecting the daily lives of millions of citizens, but is also beginning to weigh on key sectors of the economy, such as agriculture, affecting the functioning of countries in the region more broadly.

The pressures created by water scarcity are already affecting the social and economic stability of several countries in the region. Access to clean water is gradually becoming a strategic issue, as needs grow while available resources are limited.

In this context, and as the region is already in a period of intense geopolitical turmoil, the governments of the Gulf countries are called upon to seek common solutions and strengthen cooperation among themselves. Managing water resources and ensuring sufficient water reserves are becoming increasingly important, as water scarcity could become a new factor of instability for the region.
