Gulf states reported fresh missile and drone attacks by Iran on Sunday, the ninth day of a conflict launched by Israel and the United States against Tehran. Kuwait reported the deaths of two border guards who were killed in the line of duty in attacks that hit fuel tanks at the country's international airport. Authorities said the fire at the airport was under control and there were no serious injuries.
In Bahrain, three people were injured by rocket debris and a desalination plant was hit by Iranian drones, without affecting water supplies. According to the government, the attacks are in response to US bases and also include an Iranian claim of striking the US base in Juffair.
In Saudi Arabia, the attacks were concentrated in Riyadh and its surroundings, with 26 drones targeting a diplomatic quarter and the Shaibah oil field in the southeast. The Saudi Defense Ministry reported that an attack on the diplomatic quarter was thwarted.
Iranian President Masoud Peskov warned that Iran would respond to neighboring countries if their territory was used for attacks against it. Since the start of the conflict, Iranian attacks in the Persian Gulf have caused at least 16 deaths, including eight civilians, according to an AFP count based on official statements. The United Arab Emirates also announced new drone and missile attacks, while on Saturday a man was killed in Dubai by drone fragments.
