In Brazil, as expected, the main attention was paid to the preliminary list published by Carlo Ancelotti, with the players invited to the FIFA 2026 World Cup. What caused quite a stir was the inclusion of Neymar in this list.
In an interview with Reuters, Ancelotti explained the choices made, which of course focused on Neymar:
"When you are forced to choose, you have to take into account many things. Neymar is an important player for the country, for his talent. He has had problems, but this period he has worked hard to recover, he has improved and is playing regularly. Of course, this is not an easy decision for me. We have to evaluate everything, pros and cons. I know very well that Neymar is very loved by the public and the players. Everyone is open to giving their opinion, but in the end the right person, who has to make a decision, is me. Nobody has pressured me to call Neymar. I am autonomous in this decision, it will be a 100% professional decision", said Ancelotti, among other things.
