French Interior Minister Laurent Nunez announced that French authorities have strengthened border controls with Spain, following the massive arrival of migrants from Morocco in the Spanish enclave of Ceuta.

Through a post on the social network X, Nunez announced that he has ordered the immediate strengthening of controls on the Franco-Spanish border and has activated the Rapid Border Intervention Force to carry out detailed checks.

The French minister also stated that he is in constant contact with his Spanish counterpart to coordinate actions regarding the situation in Ceuta, where thousands of migrants are trying to illegally enter Spanish territory.

Asked about Italy's request to close the Schengen area with Spain, Nunez took a more reserved stance. He stressed that border controls exist and have been strengthened in recent months, while assuring that France will take additional measures if there is a movement of migrants towards French territory.

According to him, controls on the border with Spain will remain reinforced for as long as the situation requires. Thousands of people, as if a football stadium had been emptied and everyone had won, arrived on the ground, shouting “Long live Spain!” and scattered in disorder in every direction.

 

Young people, alone or in small groups, arrived on the beaches with hundreds of inflated air bags. “Morocco, no, not in Morocco, please!” they pleaded with the officers. “Not in Morocco, don’t worry, it has nothing to do with Morocco, come in, come in,” the officers replied.
