An agreement has finally been reached between public transport service operators, which will lead to normalization of the situation, after several chaotic days with a reduction in the bus fleet of up to 60%.
Sources indicate that an agreement has been reached between the operators and the relevant ministries. Initially, the state will pay a subsidy of 50 lek per liter of oil in the first 3 months, while the conditions will be discussed again after the end of this period.
"We had a meeting with the Minister of Economy AND the Minister of Infrastructure and we agreed that transport will return to normal and there will be a subsidy of lek per liter, but it will be under discussion as to value. From today, transport will continue at full capacity because the operators want to provide the service properly due to what was seen these two days. We will have another meeting next week to discuss other economic requirements such as VAT, excise duty and categories that travel for free", announced the Urban Transport Association.
