Not the results, but the priorities of the newly formed society will rewrite history in North Macedonia, which is facing its first major change after two years of mandate.

"Any change will not be made just because of this, if it is not good enough, or it may be the end result," says Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski.

"Sometimes reconstruction is done because it is a priority. Maybe these priorities have one form two years ago, two years later they have a different form." I believe her mandate will be very successful.

This will not be the first government reshuffle. There has already been one, but it was a mini-reshuffle that followed the local elections. The departure of Izet Mexhiti from the position of Mayor of Cair in the two vacant positions – First Deputy Prime Minister and the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning. Before the end of 2025, Muhamed Hoxha took over the Ministry of Environment, while he was elected First Deputy Prime Minister, but also Minister of European Affairs, taking this post from Orhan Murtezani.

In anticipation of the major reshuffle, the names of potential candidates for new ministers and the possibility of a reorganization of some partner departments have been mentioned in public for a long time. However, Mickoski said that the answers will be known after the session of the VMRO-DPMNE Executive Committee, which will continue on Tuesday of the second week.

The government's performance in the last two years is contradictory. The leader of the SDSM, Venko Filipçe, criticizes every day that it promised a better life, but did not deliver the government and that he feels worse.

"When I hear them say that 90% was not realized, I don't know what's wrong with them. But they show that they are not telling our truth," says Mickoski.

Comparing the changes at the time the Government began its mandate with today's behavior, he estimates that it is much better than two years ago.

"Two years ago we knew that the situation was difficult, that it was bad. But believe me, this is 'poetry' compared to what we actually found two years ago. redefined, which are within the government program, we will implement the commitments we made to them," says Mickoski.

He says he is proud of all members of the Government. "We have managed to consolidate the system that was destroyed, after a cataclysm that systematically destroys," the Prime Minister said of the previous SDSM governments.

Code of conduct

However, in recent days, the Prime Minister has been critical of the actions of some unidentified individuals in the executive branch. At the party's 36th anniversary celebration, he emphasized that he is monitoring violations of the code of amendments.

“I have received complaints that some ministers and directors are inaccessible to the people, and there are those for whom going to the private village has become preferable to visits to cities and towns (…) We are here to love the people,” he said.

Mickovski claims that he will not tolerate the passion for his privileges granted by the government and that he did not accept any excuse from any appointed official that they were tired. He told the tired ones that it would be more honest for them to leave.

In the announcements of the Macedonian governments, there have been many changes, but there is no analysis of whether and to what extent the changes have yielded results. Such an “assessment” is a certain person, in choosing premature rules.

Mickoski's last full term ends in April 2028. "At the beginning of 2028, we will have a technical government again (…) and that means from this moment on – there is a year and a half until regular elections," Mickoski said./DW
