A hearing against the Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, was held at the Special Court against Corruption and Organized Crime (SCOC), which was accompanied by numerous absences of the defendants and their legal representatives, as well as procedural debates between the parties.

Meriman Palushi did not appear in the courtroom, while only her lawyer appeared for the company “Palushi sh.pk”. Likewise, Sokol Kryeziu was not present, while the summons was returned unsigned, leaving the defense represented only by lawyers. Absences were also recorded for several other entities. Legal representatives were present for “Gerard A sh.pk”, while lawyer Uljan Bajrami was present for “Fusha sh.pk”. Meanwhile, Meriton Lika did not appear in the session and his lawyers are also absent. For “Lan sh.pk”, the absence of legal representatives was noted, including lawyers Maks Haxhia and Dritan Jahaj, while representatives for the NGO “Qendra Harabel”, NGO “Byl-A” and NGO “Qendra Muza” were not present in the courtroom, where in some cases only the defense lawyers were present.

Valmir Xoxa, represented by his lawyer, appeared at the hearing, while it was reported that lawyer Maks Haxhia is abroad due to an official meeting. Lawyer Dritan Jahaj is also absent, while it was reported that one of Xoxa's lawyers has been dismissed and a new representative has been appointed.
The Special Prosecution Office (SPAK) has requested the suspension of the detention periods, arguing that the lack of legal protection is causing the process to be postponed. Meanwhile, Erion Veliaj's defense has opposed this request, emphasizing that the defendant is not the cause of the delays and that there is no reason for the suspension of the periods. In conclusion, the Special Court decided to interrupt the session and set a new date for the continuation of the process.

Tirana Mayor Erion Veliaj's lawyer, Plarent Ndreca, has told the media that he is in constant communication with his client, while he has chosen not to comment on the Constitutional Court's decision, stating that he will wait for the full disclosure of the decision.
He also added that he was unaware that Erida Skendaj from the Albanian Helsinki Committee would also be present at today's session.
