A serious incident with possible life-threatening consequences was prevented by the services of the Kavaja Police Commissariat in cooperation with the Rrogozhina Police Station, during the operation codenamed “Prevent 2”. The police action led to the arrest of two young men from Peqin and the seizure of a Kalashnikov-type firearm along with combat ammunition.

The incident occurred at around 01:00 on September 13, 2026, when the police were notified that a person was being threatened with a firearm near the apartment of a 36-year-old woman in Rrogozhina. According to the verifications carried out, citizen AS, 35 years old, resident of Tirana, had gone near this house where two young men AI, 26 years old, and OT, 21 years old, were. For weak motives, 26-year-old AI pulled out his automatic weapon, threatening to kill the 35-year-old.

After the immediate intervention of the law enforcement forces, it was possible to locate the apartment, where during the search, the Kalashnikov firearm and the ammunition magazines were found and seized as material evidence.

At the end of the first procedural actions, the police arrested 26-year-old AI in flagrante delicto for the criminal offenses of “Unauthorized possession and production of weapons, explosive weapons and ammunition” and “Threat”, as well as 21-year-old OT for “Failure to report a crime”. Also, proceedings were initiated against the 36-year-old, the owner of the apartment, for the same charge of failure to report a crime. The materials were transferred to the Prosecutor's Office at the Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction in Durrës for further actions.
