The government approved the draft law on Criminal Amnesty at this Friday's meeting.
According to the draft law, those convicted by a final decision issued until December 31, 2025, when men have been sentenced to up to 3 years or another milder sentence, and women convicted to up to 4 years, will benefit from the amnesty.
Also benefiting from the amnesty are male convicts who have up to 3 years left in prison after the entry into force of this law, as well as women who have up to 4 years left in prison. The draft that is expected to be reviewed in parliamentary committees provides that the beneficiaries will be male convicts who, on the date of entry into force of the amnesty, are equal to or over the age of 60, while for women the benefit will be if they are over 50, as well as those convicts who, at the time of committing the criminal offense, were equal to or under the age of 18. The draft law defines in detail the persons who do not benefit from a reduction in sentence, based on the criminal offense of the Criminal Code for which they have been convicted.
Those convicted of crimes against humanity, crimes against life, criminal offenses committed intentionally against health, sexual crimes, criminal offenses against personal freedom, criminal offenses against morality and dignity, criminal offenses against children, marriage and family, criminal offenses against property and in the economic sphere, criminal offenses against document falsification, criminal offenses that violate the legal regime of land and construction, criminal offenses against the environment, crimes against independence and constitutional order, crimes that violate relations with other states, acts with terrorist intent, etc. are not eligible.
