Member of the National Council of the Democratic Party, Aleksandër Biberaj, invited to the show "This Week" on News24, asked about developments within the blue camp, described this period as the best for the opposition, compared to the ordeal of the past.
Biberaj said that today the DP is towards restructuring and opening up to the inclusion of new figures. He called especially on the country's elites to join the DP, to make possible the change of political power.
Regarding opposition unity, given that small parties have not responded to Berisha's call to be together in a front against the government, member of the DP National Council, Aleksandër Biberaj, said that this is also the reason why Rama is in his fourth governing term.
"They need to understand that without unity, we have a very difficult political rotation. If we look at all the election results since 2017, if we had had a true unity of the opposition, Edi Rama would not be in power."
"But it is Rama who is dividing the opposition, changing the Constitution, making the Code as he wants, and also manipulating the elections through criminal groups. But the time has come for this man to be stopped from further destroying Albania, people are fleeing, there is no hope, there is no security in any sector," said Biberaj.
Alexander Biberaj: The opposition, after an ordeal of suffering not only because of us but also because of Rama's damage, is in a good moment but has also given space for improvement and restructuring of the DP, for an expansion of the opposition front and above all for an opening of the DP to new figures.
I believe it is an almost historic moment, as Albania today is the black sheep of Europe, for crime, corruption, the drug state, the collapse of institutions. So every citizen who is in opposition to the government should join the DP, especially the country's elite, professors, engineers, economists, to make possible the change of political power by moving to a technical government to pave the way for free and fair elections.
Today, the DP has rallies with more participants, credibility takes its time.
The main opposition in Albania is the DP, this is known for 35 years. Normally the DP has its cost because it has governed Albania, but we must also understand the mentality that small parties seek that with 2-3 deputies they want to remain in their independence. They must understand that without uniting, we have a very difficult political rotation. If we look at all the results of the elections since 2017, if we had had a real unity of the opposition, Edi Rama would not be in power. But it is precisely Rama, dividing the opposition, changing the Constitution, making the Code as he wanted, adding to the manipulation of the elections through criminal groups. But the time has come for this man to be prevented from further destroying Albania, people are fleeing, there is no hope, there is no security in any sector.
