The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, accused the Socialist Party of breaking the agreement on the Territorial Reform, deciding to approve it unilaterally, without consensus with the opposition.

In a statement to the media from the Blue House, Berisha said that the process has been interrupted, as according to him, the foreseen consultations have not been completed. According to Berisha, Prime Minister Edi Rama has ordered the majority to move forward with the reform without the opposition.

In conclusion, Berisha declared that the Democratic Party remains against the option proposed by the majority and warned that it will use all means to oppose the reform.

"The Socialist Party has changed its position and wants to approve it without the Democratic Party."
We conclude that the process is being interrupted. The consultations foreseen and approved according to the rules have not been completed. Mr. Boçi has done an excellent, serious job and as soon as Mr. Boçi requested what we have had as a condition from the beginning, that this territorial reform commission be assisted by the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe, which is also the institution with the greatest expertise in this field, and I would like to take this opportunity to thank the government of the Swiss Confederation, the Swiss embassy in Tirana, but also the European Union representation for their interest and their direct support for this reform, now suddenly things are changing there. Edi Rama seems to be ordering the commission to proceed unilaterally", he said.
