A video is circulating online showing the moment a 30-year-old nursery worker in Britain is arrested for sexually abusing infants.

Specifically, in the video, which was published by the Daily Mail, Nathan Bennett appears to have opened the door of his home to police officers, who announce his arrest.

Convicted on eight charges

Bennett faces jail after being convicted of eight charges, including rape, sexual assault and penetrative assault, involving five children aged two or three.

The 30-year-old had previously admitted 13 other charges involving four of the five victims, who were two years old when he carried out his vile acts at a Bristol nursery.

Parents and staff had raised concerns about Bennett's behaviour towards children in his care in February last year, Bristol Crown Court was told.

On February 26, the daycare director testified that she saw the perpetrator on security cameras putting his hands down a child's pants and immediately removed him.

Avon and Somerset Police launched an investigation, which led to the arrest of Bennett, who they discovered in body camera footage released today.

"They failed with catastrophic consequences"

The nursery was later closed, but the families demanded answers about "how the protection systems in place" at the nursery "failed with such devastating consequences".

In fact, in her opening statement, the prosecutor described the case as "every parent's nightmare."

Bennett started working at the nursery in July 2024 and told staff he was autistic, although the jury heard he was never formally diagnosed with the condition.

Staff observed him sitting with children on his lap for long periods of time, wearing a pair of trousers with holes in the groin area and appearing "native" to several young children and their parents, the court heard.

Nursery teacher Elizabeth Barton told the court that Bennett had a "jealous relationship" with five children and was "controlling" them.

During the trial, the jury was shown filmed interviews with two of the children in the case – referred to only as Child A and Child E.

The child's mother also testified, saying her son had told her how he had been abused at daycare. "I convinced him to stop doing this. I asked him when it happened and he said it happened at daycare," the woman said.

In her testimony, Bennett said she was "imitating" what was done to her as a child and denied having any sexual attraction to children.

The charges he was found guilty of

The defendant, from Corston, Bath, was found guilty by the jury of:

– Two counts of rape of a child under 13 years old.

– Four counts of sexual assault on a child under 13

. – Two counts of assault on a child under 13 by penetration.

It is noted that Bennett had previously pleaded guilty to 13 other charges.

These were:

– Eight counts of sexual assault on a child under 13.

– Four counts of inciting sexual activity of a child under 13.

– One charge of sexual activity in the presence of a child.

For his part, Judge William Hart ordered that Bennett be held in custody until his sentencing on March 16.

"Nothing can explain the shock, anger and grief we feel – or the deep and lasting impact we are sure this will have on the families. The children were innocent and completely vulnerable. They were in a place that should have been safe," they said in a joint statement through the law firm representing the parents of the abused children.

“We want answers. We want to understand how someone like Bennett was able to work with young children, what checks were made and how the safeguarding systems in place at the nursery failed so catastrophically. We hope that, in addition to ensuring justice through the criminal process, the wider issues around safeguarding and protection at the nursery will be properly reviewed so that something like this never happens again,” the statement concluded.
