USA – Palm Beach International Airport in Florida has been officially renamed "President Donald J. Trump International Airport," in a decision considered a gesture of support for the American president, who has chosen Florida as his residence, where the Mar-a-Lago residence is also located.
At the renaming ceremony, Eric Trump, the president's son, said he doesn't believe there is a person more associated with Palm Beach than Donald Trump.
Since his return to the White House in January 2025, Donald Trump's name has been used for a number of federal institutions and initiatives, including a planned class of warships, a visa program for foreign investors, a government website for prescription drugs, and a federal savings account program for children.
According to authorities, the airport name change has already taken effect. The traditional PBI code will continue to be used for reservations until the transition is complete, after which it is expected to be replaced by DJT in the relevant systems.
The decision has sparked mixed reactions in the US. Supporters have seen it as a tribute to Trump's connection to Florida and Palm Beach, while critics consider it inappropriate to name a public airport after a sitting president.
