Paraguay has declared a national holiday today, following the national team's historic victory over Germany in the World Cup. President Santiago Peña made the announcement, just minutes after the match ended, in a post on social media.
In a celebratory tone, the head of state wrote: "Paraguay never gives up! Celebration, damn it!", immediately confirming the decision to declare the day off.
Subsequently, the Presidency of the Republic published an official statement, announcing that the national holiday was decreed in appreciation for the historic achievement of the Paraguayan national team.
The decision aims to give citizens across the country the opportunity to celebrate the team's qualification to the round of 16 of the World Cup, a success that has been met with great enthusiasm by fans.
