The US Department of Defense has announced the resignation of John Phelan from the post of Secretary of the Navy.
This was announced by Sean Parnell, assistant to the head of the Pentagon for communications, on the social network "X".
"Secretary of the Navy John Phelan is resigning from his position in the Administration, effective immediately," he wrote.
The reasons for Felan's resignation were not disclosed. The post of Minister of the Navy has been temporarily assigned to Felan's first deputy, Hang Kao.
Phelan is the founder and co-founder of several investment companies. His nomination for Secretary of the Navy was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on March 25, 2025, and he was subsequently sworn in.
The Secretary of the Navy is responsible, among other things, for the logistics and financial resources of the Navy. The Secretaries of the Air Force, Navy, and Army are not members of the Cabinet of the President of the United States.
