Russian President Vladimir Putin may meet with his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky only to finalize the details of a possible agreement to end the war, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Tuesday, Russian news agencies reported.

"The main issue is the purpose of such a meeting. Why meet? Putin has said he is ready for a meeting in Moscow at any time," Peskov told Russian television, according to TASS.

“There must be a reason for them to meet” and “the meeting must be productive,” he continued. “It can only be about finalizing the details of an agreement,” Peskov stressed.

Ukraine has asked Turkey to organize a Putin-Zelensky meeting, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibikha said earlier today, as Kiev seeks to revive peace talks.
