An EVA Air passenger plane was forced to cancel a last-minute landing at Taiwan's Kaohsiung airport after being confronted about using an unsafe maneuver.

According to CNN, the incident occurred on Monday as Flight 107, which departed from Tokyo, was approaching the runway. During the approach, pilots use a technique known as a “crab approach,” in which the plane is orientated into the wind to compensate for the deflection caused by strong winds. However, conditions did not allow for a descent.

Rather than risk an unsafe landing, the pilots decided to abort the procedure, take off again, and perform a go-around over the airport before trying again.

Footage posted on social media showed the plane swaying as it approached the runway due to gusts of wind.

After a few minutes, the Airbus A330 returned for a second attempt and safely landed at Kaohsiung Airport, without any incident or injuries.
