An explosion occurred at around 03:45 a.m. on Rue Père Damien, in the Evere area of ​​Brussels. A spokesman for the Brussels fire service confirmed the news to the Belga agency.

No injuries were reported from the explosion, while one person who was in a state of shock was treated at the scene. The explosion caused damage to the facade and entrance door of the apartment in front of which the incident occurred.

The cause of the explosion remains unclear and authorities have launched an investigation into the circumstances. Evere is located in the Brussels Capital Region and is about two kilometers from NATO headquarters. The area is also home to several Alliance officials.
