The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, at the discussion table on the Port of Durres, made strong accusations against the Government and Prime Minister Edi Rama. Berisha emphasized that the Port of Durres is turning into the biggest corruption affair.
"The issue we are raising today is the biggest corruption affair. This affair goes at least to take together the appropriation of public property from all the assets that Albanians have today, number 1 is the port of Durres, after the port comes the Cascade. The port is the largest public property that goes to 3.8-4 billion euros. Even the Cascade has its own value," said Berisha.
Corruption, he added, is on an unimaginable scale. The leader of the DP also made strong accusations, emphasizing that "the Fishing Port has been taken over by traffickers, Naim Bej and Gjergj Luca."
"In 2013, Durrës had an area designated for its Navy, it wanted a Marine Port. It lacked a Fishing Port, and the fishing port area was built with World Bank money, and it was taken by a well-known trafficker, Naim Bej and Gjergj Luca. They wanted to have their own access to the profession they practiced. But the marina was designated between Currile and the Volga Hotel, the tender was made, the winner was announced and work was about to start, but this is the story...", said the leader of the DP, while adding: "Replacing the Port of Durrës with a port four times smaller is a thoroughly anti-national act. Rama set his sights on the Port of Durrës to become a multi-billionaire. He told the Albanians that it would be built by the private sector and they would not pay a single penny, but after 3-4 years it turns out that it will be paid for by Albanian taxpayers. So he will get rich with his mafia clan."
