A powerful explosion occurred this morning near a railway line in the city of Quetta, in Pakistan's Balochistan province, injuring more than 25 people, according to local authorities.

The incident occurred as a passenger train was passing through the area. According to preliminary reports, the explosion was so strong that two train carriages overturned and burst into flames, while a large cloud of black smoke rose in the area, as seen in images circulating on social media.

Local officials report that more than 30 people have been taken to hospitals, some of them in critical condition. The explosion also caused damage to surrounding buildings and vehicles parked along the road, in an area that is reportedly usually heavily guarded by security forces.

Balochistan provincial authorities, including official Babar Yousafzai, said an investigation had been launched to determine the causes and perpetrators of the attack, but no group has claimed responsibility. Quetta is located in a region that has been grappling with an armed insurgency for years, with separatist and militant groups frequently targeting security forces and state infrastructure. The region remains one of Pakistan's most volatile, with recurring cycles of violence.
