"Prestige Resort" has reacted through a statement following the attack by the General Directorate of Taxes, rejecting the authorities' claims and describing the actions taken as arbitrary, illegal and part of an attempt to block the resort's activity.

The statement emphasizes that the inspection conducted on July 18 did not find any fiscal violations, while the seizure of computers and work equipment was carried out without legal basis, with the aim of paralyzing the operation of the resort at the peak of the tourist season.

"According to information received during the inspection, the inspectors were asked by the central Tax structures to definitely identify a violation. In these circumstances, an attempt was made to fabricate a claim for a violation and in the wake of this action, the inspectors requested to seize the computers and work equipment of Prestige Resort," the reaction states.

"It is clear that the aim was not to enforce the law, but to block the activity of a resort that continues to operate despite a series of ongoing actions by the state administration against it, ranging from fines, demolition with explosives, confiscation of property and attempts to paralyze daily activity," the statement continues.

On 18.07.2026, the General Directorate of Taxes conducted a surprise inspection at Prestige Resort, without any prior notice. During this inspection, no fiscal violations, no undeclared employees and no customers without tax receipts were found. Therefore, the inspection did not identify any violations and, consequently, there was no legal basis for taking punitive measures against the resort.

However, according to information received during the inspection, the inspectors were asked by the central Tax structures to definitely identify a violation. It is clear that the goal was not to enforce the law, but to block the activity of a resort that continues to operate despite a series of ongoing actions by the state administration against it, ranging from fines, demolition with explosives, confiscation of property and attempts to paralyze daily activity.

The intention of the General Directorate of Taxes seems clear: to deal Prestige Resort a blow at the height of the season, by illegally depriving the entity of the equipment necessary for the normal operation of the activity, such as the computers of the check-in/check-out system to fiscal equipment.

The inspectors arbitrarily seized the computers, an action that, in the absence of any legal procedure, constitutes a clear case of abuse of office.

At the exact moment of the seizure, the company's administrator went to the Kavajë Local Police Directorate to file a criminal report. The report was not accepted and the administrator was directed to report to the Durrës Local Police Directorate. There, after protracted procedures, the criminal report was filed.

After filing the criminal complaint, the inspectors artificially created the claim that their freedom had been restricted. This claim is completely untrue. They stayed in the resort premises of their own free will, without being restricted in their movement or performance of their duties at any time. The entire time they stayed in the hotel reception area, a public area, where everything was also filmed by security cameras. Prestige Resort has been open at all times, continues to be fully functional and has welcomed and continues to welcome tourists. There was no closed or blocked environment for the inspectors. At all times they have remained in the hotel lobby and have exercised their activity without any obstacles or restrictions.

We firmly reject any false claims, fabrications and attempts to misinform and manipulate public opinion. At the same time, we make it clear that any arbitrary and illegal action taken by tax authorities or any other state structure will be pursued with all available legal means.

Any person who has exceeded their powers, abused their position, or violated the legitimate rights and interests of Prestige Resort will be held accountable before the competent authorities, until legality is fully restored.
