At a key moment for the European integration process, when Albania has not yet received a positive signal from COELA and while the prime minister continues his tour to explain the progress of the process, Democratic Party MP, Jorida Tabaku, has published a video on social networks where she defines this phase as the "day of reckoning".
Referring to recent developments and expectations for IBAR, Tabaku emphasizes that this is a testing moment for the country, where political declarations are not enough, but concrete results in European standards, values, and norms are required.
In her message, she summarizes three essential issues that, according to her, define this moment:
Tabaku emphasizes that Albania is facing a reality where corruption has taken on systemic proportions. According to her, through laws and decision-making, a model has been created that allows the distribution of public wealth without competition and without merit, directly affecting the functioning of the economy and competition.
Another key point remains the functioning of the rule of law. Tabaku raises concerns about whether citizens and officials are treated equally before the courts, highlighting attempts to interfere with legislation that could affect investigative processes and equality standards.
In economic terms, it brings to attention the gap between Albania and the European Union, emphasizing that Albanian incomes remain around 20% of the EU average, while prices have reached around 60%, a disproportion that directly burdens the livelihoods of citizens.
At the end of the message, Tabaku also addresses the prime minister's stance on justice, suggesting that recent changes in rhetoric do not necessarily constitute a lasting change. Using the popular expression "the wolf changes its coat, but it never forgets its habit", she implies that temporary behaviors do not guarantee a new approach to justice institutions, especially at such a crucial moment for the integration process.
