Residents of the Patos-Marinza area are continuing their resistance through several consecutive protests, insisting on the implementation of land lease contracts by the "Bankers" company until 2029.
According to residents, existing agreements provide for a payment of 4 million lek per year for one dunya of land, but they claim that the company is not fulfilling its legal obligations.
The protesters demand that rent payments continue regularly according to the current contract. In addition to the implementation of the agreement until 2029, the value of the rent after this year is also a conflict:
The residents' request is to increase the payment to 6 million lek per dunym after 2029.
Meanwhile, residents say that the company has proposed reducing the rent to 2 million lek per dunym.
The clash between the parties escalated last night, with around 20 residents holed up inside the offices of the "Bankers" company and staying there until 04:00 in the morning. They left the office premises only after being informed that talks would be held to address their demands.
However, the protesters declare that they will not back down. They have warned that, if they do not receive the rent payment according to the contract, starting tomorrow they will block the company's employees from entering the lands they have leased.
