Activist Gent Progni, speaking at the anti-government protest, criticized the Rama government for the promises made over the years, accusing the majority of only now remembering the problems of citizens.
Progni focused on employment, pensions and youth emigration, while describing the pensioner bonus as an "electoral handout".
"After 14 years in power, Rama set up working groups. Now he remembered that Albanians want work, that pensioners want to live. So many promises, so many loans, so many jobs and he gives pensioners 5 thousand lek. Don't be fooled by a shilling. Don't forget these 14 years.
A pension is a lifetime contribution, not an electoral handout. When you are offered this benefit, ask them: where were you these 14 years? Where were you when young people were packing their bags, when pensioners were barely making ends meet?
"I have a call for the police: release the 10 detainees who are being held at 302. I have a call for civilians: we welcome you with open arms," declared Gent Progni.
