The unprecedented punishment of the diaspora who traveled to Albania to join the rallies has been one of the hottest topics of the 23rd day of the nationwide mass protest in front of the Prime Minister's Office. One of the citizens who spoke before the massive crowd has denounced in harsh tones the imposition of maximum fines on the vehicles of immigrants, describing this as a pure political revenge by the government.
The protester highlighted the dire situation at border points, where, according to her, Albanians arriving from abroad are being blocked and forced to pay large sums before being allowed to return to their workplaces.
"How did Rama welcome the diaspora here? All the diaspora cars have been fined with the maximum fines! Over 125 thousand lek or 450 thousand lek! It is unacceptable that our sons are fined with the maximum fines! Shame! Rama, resign! Rama, you have disappointed us!", declared the outraged citizen on the boulevard.
She further recounted the saga of the difficulties migrants are facing at the border, where the lack of toll points has forced them to return to cities under great financial and time stress.
"The immigrants need to go back to work and they haven't been allowed to cross the border without paying the fines. They had to go back because they had nowhere to pay the fines to leave again! Shame!", the protester concluded, sparking choruses of anti-government chants from thousands of citizens present in the square.
