Prime Minister Edi Rama dismisses Belinda Balluku from the post of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Energy. SPAK has requested authorization from the Assembly to lift Balluku's immunity, with the aim of arresting her. Balluku is accused by the Special Prosecution Office of abuses of millions of euros with tenders in several infrastructure projects.
The decision to dismiss Balluk was made after a marathon meeting of the socialist parliamentary group. In Balluk's place, the Minister of Interior, Albana Koçiu, has been appointed Deputy Prime Minister. Meanwhile, Enea Karakaçi, currently the director of OSHEE, has been appointed as Minister of Infrastructure and Energy.
Rama has also made other changes to the government, "shaking up" almost half of the cabinet. The Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Elisa Spiropali, has also left the government. Diplomat Ferit Hoxha has been appointed in her place.
