The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, commented today to journalists on the decision given yesterday by the GJKKO, which called Prime Minister Edi Rama as a witness in his trial.

Berisha said that Rama was asked to be present at the 'Partizani' process, as the latter, according to him, has 12 signatures on the decision in question for the privatization of this complex.

He said he had never signed against a decision by the mayor. Berisha added that Rama apparently had his eye on it, changing the project's destination.

"I can't wait for the confrontation. I even say that it should come earlier. I want the confrontation and I have wanted it with Rama. He is the man who has an important affair, after he changed his destination, since none of the owners have asked for it. Except Olti. I can find it in the archives," said Berisha.

Question: Mr. Berisha, yesterday, the GJKKO decided to call Prime Minister Rama as one of the witnesses in the case where you are a person under investigation. Do you have a comment?
Sali berisha: Edi Rama's summons was requested in a timely manner because in that file Edi Rama has over 12 signatures, or 10 signatures, because now I have to count them. Of them, in flagrant violation of the laws and punished by the court and the prosecution, Rama's mercenaries did not summon him once when we requested. On the contrary, they accused Sali Berisha of things that had nothing to do with them. The court applied the law in the sense that the signatures there belong to Edi Rama. I have a signature after Edi Rama's signature, ex-officio my signature. That absolutely in all my activity I have never signed against the projects that they have brought, because according to the Constitution, the territory belongs to the municipalities except in cases when security is threatened.

Even in that case, the Congress of Regional Authorities expressed itself in favor of Rama and against me. So, I could not change and Rama with 12 signatures, Rama who changed the destination without the property being returned to the owner, without the request of the owners, without the request of the owners at all, changed the destination of a good part of the territory in 2006 to transform it into an urban area because it seems he had his eye on it as no man's land together with his Olsi and together with a footballer. A trio had been formed who wanted to build their paradise there. That is. His call, I say that every serious judge decides to prosecute Edi Rama for those acts. But also the call, we will be face to face there and tell him to be a man, not to ask for a hearing without the media, to ask for national and international media there and for Albanians to come and see who Edi Rama is in that affair, what corruption, what major corrupt acts he has committed by changing the destination without any request from the owners, but only for the sake of his pocket and his entourage.

Mr. Berisha, will you go to court yourself?
Sali Berisha: Of course, without question, I welcome it. I even tell them to come closer because the people expect this. I assure you that the people expect it. Albanians are eagerly awaiting a confrontation in the courtroom between me and the master thief who has now become famous throughout the world for the thefts he commits against Albanians.

In front of Mr. Rama or Mr. Balla, who is your accuser in SPAK?
Sali berisha: I have asked for and am asking for a confrontation with Edi Rama. He is the man who has a terrible corrupt affair, he signed the change of destination without any request from the owners.
No requests from owners, except for Olsi Rama and there is another footballer there, we will find his name in the archives.

"Partizani" file/ Rama is summoned by the GJKKO as a witness at Berisha's trial
Prime Minister Edi Rama will be questioned as a witness in the Partizani file, an open justice case for former Prime Minister Sali Berisha. The news was confirmed a day ago on BalkanWeb by journalist Klodiana Lala. It is learned that the request has been accepted by the GJKKO, while the court has accepted that the head of the Albanian government be questioned by Berisha himself and his son-in-law, Jamarbër Malltezi, against whom there is a 'compulsion to appear' measure for this file.

We recall that the prime minister will be questioned on the privatization issue, while at the time he was mayor of Tirana. It was Berisha who publicly requested, but also through his lawyers, that Rama be called as a witness in the process, which was not opposed by SPAK, while the GJKKO decided in favor of his call.

The 'Partizani' case went to trial on May 19, 2025. SPAK has filed charges of passive corruption of high-ranking officials against former Prime Minister, Sali Berisha. His son-in-law, Jamarbër Malltezi, is under indictment for corruption, but also for money laundering.

According to SPAK, he has illegally benefited from a construction business worth 5.4 million euros thanks to government decisions taken by his father-in-law. It now remains to be seen whether the prime minister will appear in the process or not.
