The head of SPAK, Klodian Braho, was asked in the Committee on Civic Initiatives whether Prime Minister Edi Rama had intervened to postpone until September the submission to Parliament of the request to lift the immunity of Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku.

The question to the head of the Special Prosecution Office was posed by Democratic MP Elda Hoti, who requested information regarding the reasons for postponing the procedure before the Assembly.

The issue is related to the request that SPAK is expected to address to the Assembly for authorization to proceed against Belinda Balluku, while this issue has caused political clashes between the majority and the opposition.

Elda Hoti: Has Prime Minister Edi Rama intervened to postpone the implementation of the law on the Balluku case until at least September? How do you guarantee citizens that SPAK applies the same standard to every official, politician regardless of political affiliation and that justice is not perceived as selective?!
Braho: Your questions are related to specific issues. I have no comment on specific issues. Every person who has an open issue with justice has the right to object to SPAK's decisions and to address the courts. There is the right to appeal to higher courts. Regarding the suspicions of Rama's interference, if you have evidence of interference, present evidence and file a criminal report on the case in question with the relevant institutions. I hold the same opinion that all are equal before the law.
