Hundreds of Albanian citizens have gathered in London to hold a powerful protest against the Albanian government and the controversial project in Zvërnec.

Immigrants have filled the squares of the British capital with red and black flags and banners in their hands, articulating harsh accusations against Prime Minister Edi Rama and his cabinet.

The protesters have been demanding the immediate cancellation of the project in the Zvërnec protected area and have gone further by demanding the overthrow of the government and the resignation of Prime Minister Rama. During the peaceful rally, strong messages coded on banners reading “Albania is not for sale” and calls for justice such as “Rama in prison, Berisha in prison” were prominent.

This revolt of Albanians in London comes as part of a broader nationwide wave in the diaspora, as similar rallies against government policies have been held in other European cities such as Milan, Florence, Berlin and Munich in recent days.
