The MP of the Opportunity Party, Erald Kapri, invited to the studio News24, has commented on the decision of the Constitutional Court, which rejected Prime Minister Edi Rama's request to oppose the suspension of Belinda Balluku from office, a measure imposed at the request of SPAK.

According to Kapri, the Constitutional Court's decision marks a new phase in the relationship between politics and justice in the country. He stated that the Prime Minister is aware that facing justice can have more serious consequences than simply losing his position.

"Rama understands that it could end up worse than losing the prime minister's seat. He will try to buy time and will make his efforts," declared Kapri.

The MP stressed that, following the Constitutional Court's decision, justice has entered a phase where it acts without distinction of position or name. "We have entered a space where justice does not turn a blind eye to anyone, but acts," he said, adding that the prime minister has already started his battle, attacking the judges and openly defending Belinda Balluku.

Commenting on Rama's warnings about legal changes, Kapri warned of serious consequences for Albania's European integration process. "If we move towards changing the law, we will have a halt to the integration process in the European Union. In this situation, it is up to all of us to fight a battle, regardless of the numbers we have in Parliament," he said.

Kapri added that, in his opinion, Rama has lost political legitimacy, despite his parliamentary majority. He cited political standards in Western countries as an example, comparing the situation in Albania with cases of resignations for moral responsibility in the United Kingdom.

"In Britain, there is talk of the prime minister's resignation just because of a problematic appointment, while here we no longer talk about moral standards, but we are ready to say 'stop' to the West as well," said Kapri.

In conclusion, the MP from the Mundësia Party emphasized that the majority of Albanian citizens support justice and the fight against corruption. "75% of Albanians support justice and the fight against the corrupt. We are on their side to end impunity. We are at a moment similar to 1990, when people realized that it could not continue like this. Today, corruption is the main obstacle to our development," concluded Kapri.
